24 hour shop open during blackout
When the local shop says they are open 24 hours a day they mean it. Even during the 3 hour power blackout they kept running with hand written receipts!

Japanese pillow
No you are not looking at a bag of pet food, it’s in fact a Japanese pillow stuffed with small plastic tubes as you can see from the closeup in the middle. My wife really missed her pillow while in the UK. No idea how people can sleep on that but then again if I came from this and was confronted with a pillow stuffed with feathers I would be just as surprised!

Here you see a lot of parents, well mostly mothers, cycle with a kid at the front and the back. The see trough plastic bit folds out for the kids feet but if folded up the seat doubles as a basket to stick your shopping into!
Blogging tool of choice, Ecto!
So I’m Dutch and now living in Japan, blogging about Japan so it only stands to reason to use a tool build by a Dutch coder living in Japan (^_^)
I bought Ecto from Adriaan back in 2004 and happy to report that the activation code still works. Was a tad worried as the software has since been sold to illuminex.
